Self Distribution

A self distributor is a filmmaker who decides to cut out the middle man and distribute the movie yourself. In an article i read self distribution used to mean you went on a road trip and put posters up and go on radio shows to promote your film. According to the article the most successful self distributed film was Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter (2001) with a budget of an estimate of £50k, the filmmaker is said to have made 10x as much.

This could apply to me if i couldn't get a deal with a distribution company or if i didn't ant to use money on paying a distribution company.
